Throw Down is generally a term used to describe a fight or a party, well this is a bit of both. It is a fight... but in this case, you won't be fighting another person you'll be fighting against the time limit to make as many repetitions as you can lifting kettlebells WITH Fixation! A party, in the sense that there will be music, complimentary food and refreshments, and a lot of cheering......and grunting....some funny faces...Kettlebell Lifting is Just Hard, who knew?
Although we want everyone to have a great time, make no mistake about it, this is a Competition! Rules of lifting and judging criteria will be STRICTLY enforced and in accordance with World Kettlebell Club standards. See here: http://worldkettlebellclub.com/rules/
Last year, I unfortunately had to disqualify one of my own athletes for resting the kettlebells on his shoulders. :'-(
This will be an official WKC Competition this year with the possibility of qualified lifters making rank up to WCMS.
All Kettlebell enthusiasts and athletes are invited to attend. Anyone can compete in this event; however, if you have never competed before, all non WKC ranked lifters must compete with:
14kg for Women's Biathlon or One Arm Long Cycle
2x12kg for Men's Biathlon or Two Arm Long Cycle
**Competition is allowed with 8kg or 12kg for Women. Will not qualify for rank attempt**
If you have only competed in other Kettlebell Sport organizations, you also are welcome to compete! We don't care what organization you come from or what "style" of kettlebell lifting you do, just as long as you qualify according to our standards. After all, it is our competition, that's fair isn't it?
If you are not a WKC Ranked lifter, you must qualify for this competition by submitting your rank video to World Kettlebell Club. If you do not, you must compete with Rank IV kettlebell weight. To see qualification standards go here: http://worldkettlebellclub.com/ranks/
Medals will be awarded for first (Gold), second (Silver), and third place (Bronze), in each weight category. Certificates of participation will be awarded to all. Absolute Champions (male and female) in each discipline (Long Cycle and Biathlon) will receive additional medals.
All are welcome to spectate!
Date for this competition is May 18th, 2013
Start time: 9:00am
Free to all spectators
Registration fee: $89 registration for initial event and $29 for each additional event. One event: $89, Two Events: $118, Three Events: $147.
